No More Diapers!

I think the day has finally arrived. The day where I will never have to purchase another diaper! Out of the last 9 years I’ve had a kid in diapers for 8 of them, so I honestly never saw this day coming. Oh happy day!

In true Penny-Roach fashion, Luke waited until close to his third birthday to finally be ready. Actually, he’s the earliest of all three kids. For the past week Lukie has been peeing in a potty, with only 1 accident, and very few wet pull ups for naps or sleeps. The last 3 out of 4 mornings he’s even been dry when he woke up, and same with naps. He’s so proud of himself and has to announce to the world when he pees in the potty, and loves his special treat of a smartie or two.

He’s still not fully trained on the poop side of things, but it’s coming along. He’s about 50/50 at home with it. Considering what we’ve gone through with Anakha and constipation her whole life, I’m trying my best not to make a big deal about accidents. If it ends up in his underwear, no biggie. But he loves the reward of 5 smarties, so he’s certainly trying his best to work on it!

Five Relivable Moments

I’m joining Nicole over at Moments That Define Life for Listable Life today.

5 Moments You Would Live Over Again

1 – The birth of my children. That moment when you see them for the very first time. That moment when your heart stops, and when it starts again it feels like it has grown with love for this new little being that is now in your world. That moment when you start crying and you understand the true meaning of happy tears. That moment when they are placed in your arms, and you can feel that this is real, that this sweet beautiful baby, is yours.

2 – First date with Craig. We had dinner at East Side Mario’s, and I will never forget that he sat on the same side of the table as me. I thought it was odd and sweet all at the same time. I think he may have even ordered the same linguine I did, probably not sure if he should eat meat in front of me.

3 – Anakha’s First Laugh. Anakha was somewhere between 3 and 4 months old the first time she laughed. She was on her change table in our bedroom getting her diaper changed. With nothing but her diaper on, I pretended to take bites out of her belly, right up to her neck. It always made her smile. But this time she did more than smile. It started with just one little sound, almost like a “HA”. A great big noise coming from such a little babe. As I kept playing her belly started moving in and out, and real giggles came out. She was laughing! As she laughed I laughed more and got sillier, and so did she. I called out to Mom and Dad, and my cousin Maurice, who were all downstairs, and they came up and got to hear the tail end of her very first laughing fit.

4 – Ty Being Brave. We were out to my Nan and Pop Snook’s house and a lot of my family was around. My Aunt and Uncle had their dog Coco there. Ty was maybe 8 or 9 months old. He was sitting on the floor when Coco came right up in his face and barked. We all jumped of course, thinking Ty was going to start crying. Nope. Ty reached up and held on to Coco’s two ears, and SCREAMED! Right back in Coco’s face. I should have known then what that little boy was going to do for the noise level in my house.

5 – Luke Being Sweet. Putting Luke to bed any night is when his sweet side shows through. After we read a book, or even if we don’t have time, I’ll tuck his blankets in around and he’ll look right up at me and say “kunik”. I’ll kunik him (most people call it eskimo kisses, or rubbing noses) and while we’re nose to nose, he’ll look right in my eyes, and say “I love you Mommy”.
